About Karen Davis - The Room Planner

Karen Davis has always had a love for design. It started at an early age building houses out of cardboard boxes and decorating them.

Growing up in New Orleans, Karen learned to appreciate many different tastes and styles and how to bring harmony to a room. After graduating college she took a position with Laura Ashley Home in New Orleans and started leading decorating seminars.

For a while, Karen turned her talents to fashion merchandising before returning to interior design with Ralph Lauren Home. Karen then spent two-years in Paris, France, during which Karen studied Interior Design at the Paris American Academy.

Returning to Houston, Karen took a position with F. Schumacher to develop her understanding of the use of colors and fabrics in interior design. After a period as a Project Manager working for a Houston based Interior Designer, Karen then went on to form The Room Planner.

Karen is also a certified member of The Interior Refiners Network^® and trained by Lauri Ward, owner of “Use What You Have Interiors^®” decorating and author of the book “Downsizing Your Home With Style”. “Many of my clients have pieces that are very special to them so I always try to include these in the design.” says Karen.
